Mosaic Edge Specification and Documentation

Mosaic Edge is a Windows application that reads data from PLCs using various communication drivers and writes the data to Blynk.IO using the MQTT protocol.

Current Capabilities:

#1: Read data from up to ten PLCs (default - more possible if needed)

#2: Using MQTT, write data to a time series database provided by Blynk.IO

#3: Read remote tag database configuration data automatically

#4: Update the Mosaic Edge Windows program when commanded

#5: Display live and historical data on the Blynk.IO mobile app or on the web app at blynk.cloud

 Settings:

Data Read Interval: Controls how often data is read from the PLCs.

Data Write Interval: Controls how often ALL data is written.

Deadband: Controls how much a value needs to change from the previously written value before being written.

Number of decimal places to include when sending data.

Customer Responsibilities:

#1: Provide a Windows computer that has network access to the PLCs and to the internet

#2: Install the Mosaic Edge program using a download link that we provide

#3: Run the Mosaic Edge program and enter contact information to identify the computer

#4: Respond to an email invitation from Blynk to create a Blynk account

#5: Install the Blynk app for iPhone or Android

#6: Log into the Blynk mobile app or the web dashboard

Other Comments:

#1: Mosaic Edge is a read only application.  Commands cannot be sent from Mosaic Edge to the PLC.
